When you walk into PepperTap‘s Gurgaon corporate office, it looks like any other corporate office. But when you look around, true to its name, the office is “peppered” with a ton of interesting stuff to keep you occupied for a while.

Though the startup has two other offices in Gurgaon, its corporate office is the largest, with around 120 people working across various departments, including Marketing, Operations, HR, Finance and Product.

The online grocery startup recently celebrated its first birthday with the acquisition of Bangalore-based Jiffstore, and is now looking to raise US$11 million to add to the US$40 million it raised a few days ago.

Founders Navneet Singh and Milind Sharma’s down-to-earth and warm attitudes are reflected in the office layout as well. Instead of setting up flashy cubicles, which they can afford, they still sit in an open cubicle along with the team.

A one-year-old venture, PepperTap is serious about getting its name and brand recognised. So, as you enter its office situated on the third floor of a swanky corporate office building in Gurgaon, you are greeted with a a huge mural about PepperTap and the features on its app.

Reception area

A stroll around the office is a treat even though the staff seemed to have their heads down into work. The posters of popular celebrities and quotes hanging on the wall to motivate the staff made me smile.

From Chelsea to Real Madrid and Manchester United, popular international football clubs have found a place on PepperTap’s walls to provide the extra kick for its employees.

The colourful decor on the walls really help lift the mood in the office, especially when it’s centred around a smiling emoji.

Like any other startup, PepperTap also tries to keep up the spirits of its staff by brightening up the room.

What is an office without meetings? Along with the meeting rooms that are located around the office, right in the middle of the office floor is the common meeting area, where casual meetings take place.

Placed above the round table is a pin board, which employees use to send messages of appreciation to each other to mark its first birthday,  was back to business when e27 took an office tour.

Large conference room

While its largest conference room overlooks a beautiful view of the area and the colourful walls pack a punch, its smaller conference room is eye-catching. Big enough to seat just a handful of people, its large black-and-white poster is more than enough to keep you distracted in a boring meeting or make waiting period more fun.

So what do you do when you have a little spare time in the PepperTap office? There’s a choice between table tennis and foosball in the games room, where employees can go to relieve their stress or simply to escape the boss.

Tournaments and competitions are also held to not only keep the employees happy, but also boost the competitive spirit.

Adjoining the games room is the the office cafeteria, which is aimed at providing happy tummies so employees better work.
