Venture Factory (VF) is a startup incubator and accelerator. Based out of Bangalore, VF is an initiative of i2india, which was established in 2008 by Deepam Mishra, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton).

As a company, VF calls itself “India’s Entrepreneurship Gateway” for startups.

In Pics: Is this a startup incubator or the office of a multi-billion dollar company?

A venture capital firm, it also acts as an incubator and mentor to set the working patterns and structures of these newbies with its knowledge, experience and relationships to help entrepreneurs succeed and sustain globally.

4

VF believes in helping budding entrepreneurs establish and transform home-grown companies into affluent and profitable enterprises through its early-stage adoption processes. From ideation to administration, from HR to legal advices, Finance, Accounting, IT support to facilities and infrastructure, VF nurtures these companies in every possible way.

10

VF’s efforts are continually focused on aligning the startups functionality in a structured manner in regards to production line – predictability, quality and speeding up the process of building the company. Its mission is to be India’s foremost startup builder.

2

Venture Factory’s methodology provides systematic, high impact and end-to-end support to its ventures.

5

Early-stage venture building in India follows a different path than that in developed countries. Ecosystem gaps, talent development and monetisation are but a few such factors that make the western “cut-paste” business models difficult to scale in India.

9

Taking a new business to market is fraught with risks and complexities, hence VF has developed a specific model to cater to the Indian ecosystem. This model mitigates these risks by in-depth collaboration with its established ventures from day-one.

12

By creating a deep level of strategic and operational engagement with these startups, VF ensures that its resources are optimised, best practices are adhered to, time to market is improved and risks are minimised. Most entrepreneurs have some strong skills and some areas of inexperience, hence VF is designed to leverage the strengths of these young minds while filling in the gaps with other in-house teams.

3

This makes the ventures associated with VF competitive by the time they enter the market. VF believes in empowering individuals to create a world-class company which can make profits but can also sustain the increasingly threatening pressure of survival.

6

Existing accelerators typically provide access to the startup ecosystem and to experts. They do not invest in startups but only provide them an audience with VCs. VF, on the other hand, provides financial support, access to the ecosystem and even goes beyond to bring in experts who take up key operational roles in supporting them in key areas of their business.

8

This in turn reduces the chances of startup failures significantly, which are typically an outcome of operational or financial challenges.

11

In contrast, incubators in India largely provide space at a reasonable cost while providing access to mentors. In the case of VF, it not only provides physical space required by the startups but also extends additional support services related to compliance, finance and HR that would help them focus on value creation and their core competencies.
