BEAM, a business connectivity platform that aims to link up every participant — journalists, investors and entrepreneurs — in Asia’s tech ecosystem, has raised a six-digit seed funding from TinkBig Venture.

The Malaysia-based startup plans to use the newly-raised capital to increase its presence in Southeast Asia — namely Singapore and Malaysia.

It plans to introduce professional services to help startups and entrepreneurs connect and grow their business. It is also working with more equity crowdfunding platforms and angel investors to help them get more value out of their investments.

“BEAM aims to drive as much value as we can to bring their businesses to the next level, at scale,” said Kenneth Ho, Founder of BEAM, in a press release.

BEAM first began life in December 2015 as a community running monthly business networking events. It then launched its business connectivity app on June 14, 2016.

BEAM has run events in Singapore, Malaysia and Japan. It plans to expand its scope to Vietnam and Philippines in the near future.

Ho told e27 that there are close to 2,000 users from Singapore and Malaysia on the platform, and 5 per cent of that are investors and startup enablers. To date, the platform has logged around 300 funding requests.
