Fifteen startups in the water and energy spaces have been selected to showcase their products during the upcoming African Utility Week in Cape Town.

African Utility Week takes place on May 17-19, with the 15 finalists joining 250 technology and service providers in the African energy and water sectors in showcasing their solutions.

Some 6,000 engineers, stakeholders and solution providers from around the globe will gather for the Cape Town event, with the 15 startups selected after an application process for the opportunity to take their businesses to the next level.

The finalists will each receive a free exhibition stand within the Innovation Hub area for the duration of the three-day exhibition. Four of the entrants have also earned speaking slots in the Innovation Hub conference sessions. The overall winner of the award will be announced during the African Utility Week Industry Awards gala dinner on May 18.

The selected companies include power demand management solution PowerOptimal, early warning device Tiisetso Dev Solutions, waste sorting service Bontle Ke Tlhago, consulting startup GCX Africa, and water conservation startup WHC.
