#Africa Nigerian training marketplace Beavly selected for Start-Up Chile

//

Nigerian startup Beavly, an online marketplace that connects people eager to learn new skills with small and medium sized businesses willing to provide workplace training for a fee, has been accepted onto the renowned Start-Up Chile accelerator.

Beavly looks to disrupt the informal learning industry in Africa with its marketplace, which facilitates skills acquisition in small scale industries.

The startup is the only African company selected as part of the 16th generation of the Start-Up Chile accelerator, though Ghana’s Vestracker and Uganda’s WinSenga are part of the ongoing 15th generation.

Beavly and 93 other startups from across the world will join Start-Up Chile, a programme created by the Chilean Government that seeks to attract early-stage startups to use Chile as a platform to go global, on July 4.

Startups participating in the programme receive CLP20 million (US$30,000), a working visa for one year and access to a large startup community to grow their businesses.

Beavly also stands a chance to gain entry to Start-Up Chile’s new follow-on fund SCALE, which offers CLP60 million (US$90,000) to companies that have significant traction, are generating revenue and that need the extra capital to grow in Chile and expand to the rest of Latin America.
