#Africa Nigeria’s DropBuddies releases API for software developers

//

Nigerian on-demand delivery startup DropBuddies has released its API to the public to allow software developers to integrate peer-to-peer (P2P) delivery into their applications.

Launched in 2015, DropBuddies is a crowdsourced on-demand delivery and errand running platform accessible through web and mobile apps, allowing users to tap into a fleet of couriers for errands..

The startup is currently focused on its P2P package delivery service that uses GPS to alert the closest couriers of pickups via push notifications. It also recently released its API to the public to allow business owners to use its technology to build their customer base.

“Using the DropBuddies Delivery API, developers can integrate P2P delivery into their applications. The API is designed to allow application developers to check prices, schedule and book a delivery, then follow updates on that delivery until completion,” founder Oluwatomi Solanke told Disrupt Africa.

The startup also recently released an upgrade to its DropBuddies Partner app for potential couriers.

“We currently have over 500 people as couriers and have 200 weekly actives, many of which earn substantial income from the application. We are looking to grow this number substantially within the coming months,” Solanke said.
