Village Capital has invited entrepreneurs working on increasing access to, and affordability of, nutritious food products to apply for the Affordable Nutrition Forum in Ghana, where the winning pitch will be awarded US$15,000 in funding.
Though West African economies are growing rapidly, nutrition for children still lags behind. UNICEF estimates that 57 per cent of children under five in Ghana are anemic.
While the demand for healthier food products is growing across the continent, inefficiencies in supply chain, manufacturing, logistics and distribution make it difficult for healthy food products to reach the right people at the right price.
Village Capital and The Hershey Company are seeking to identify and support the next generation of entrepreneurs increasing access to and affordability of nutritious food products in Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Nigeria.
Up to 10 selected enterprises will participate in a day of business development and investment readiness training with industry experts and investors, and have the opportunity to win US$15,000.
Applications close on March 20.
