A lot of stuff is happening this week, and we thought it best that you shouldn’t miss out
It’s the middle of the week, nearly the end of the month, not to mention – hot and humid all around, so we’re going to give you a break and recommend you the greatest events happening this week – panel discussions, meetups, classes, workshops and weekend hackathons! Check our list out below:
April 20
Geek Girls + GA ‘Appy Hour
What’s great about it: It’s a great networking event that will teach you how to build a mobile app as well as tackle discussions on app development and design. There will definitely be a lot of app anecdotes on this one, so it’ll be a good place to learn, and also explore your own app ideas!
Where: GA Singapore, Singapore
SBR 20 Hottest Startups of 2016 Panel Briefing
What’s great about it: You can network with 20 of SBR’s top performing startups and learn about marketing, social media strategies, fundraising, and success stories from startup giants! They also are giving out a nifty discount code (HSU-PB16) for folks to get 20% off its $110 passes.
Where: Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Singapore
StartupGrind to host Peng Tsin. Ong, Partner at Monk’s Hill Ventures & Founder of match.com.
What’s great about it: Peng Tsin. Ong – if you haven’t gotten around to meeting him up close and personal, you should. Aside from being the MD at Monk’s Hill Ventures, he also founded Match.com, Interwoven & Encentuate which were acquired by IAC, HP and IBM respectively. Plus, it’s the StartupGrind crowd! What’s not to like about that?
Where: The Impact Hub, Singapore
April 21
Evernote Presents: Productivity Hacks For Innovators On The Go
What’s great about it: It’s a great opportunity to meet the Evernote community, at the same time learn time management tips from The Djenee Corporation, Jungle Ventures and SRI5000. We all need to be smart about the way we do work, so this event is perfect.
Where: *SCAPE Gallery, Singapore
WEDGE 08: PASSION, Empower your best life
What’s great about it: You’d be surprised how many people lack passion these days. If you’re needing a little bit of guidance as to what you want to do, find that little spark that will motivate and inspire you – this event will help you find exactly that.
Where: The Working Capitol, Singapore
iCities: Urban & Township Development
What’s great about it: It’s basically a two-day conference that will see senior decision makers from the real estate sector coming together to discuss sustainable development and township planning. If you’re a part of the regional real estate industry, you definitely want to check this out.
Where: Inter Continental Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
April 22
Share Your Craft: Teach at General Assembly
What’s great about it: If you want to be involved with the General Assembly staff and community by being an instructor, then this is a good event for starters. You’ll find out more about its course offerings, the role of an instructor at GA, and hear from current instructors and the General Assembly production team. On-site interviews will also be offered, so keep your fingers crossed.
Where: Annexe 3 @ The Working Capitol, Singapore
Weekend Hackathons
April 22-24: Fishackathon Singapore 2016
What’s great about it: Ever coded for the ocean before? This hackathon will let you do so, challenging coders to help identify issues facing the ocean, fish and fisheries around the globe and to develop mobile and technological solutions to these real-world problems. Singapore Institute of Technology is one of its global hosts too – serious stuff.
Where: 10 Dover Drive, Singapore
April 23-24: Angelhack Hanoi and Manila 2016
What’s great about it: AngelHack is known to be the world’s largest developer ecosystem, so this is great hackathon for interested developers to try out their skills – also, winners of these AngelHacks get invited into its HACKcelerator programme, a 12-week mentorship programme to guide the winning idea to a chance to pitch to global investors in San Francisco.
