Last August, Helion Venture Partners-backed curated marketplace for technology recruitment TalentPad has shut down, as it was unable to scale the business. This had triggered widespread concerns that job portal was not going to work in India.

But it seems the concern was short-living. Aasaanjobs, another online marketplace for recruitment in India, has secured US$5 million in Series A round of funding, led by Aspada Advisors with participation from existing investors.

The fresh inflow of capital will help the company “realise its mission of taking its HR services on the cloud” and expand into newer geographies.

Elaborating further, CEO Dinesh Goel said: “The company would use the funds to automate its online recruitment marketplace and expand to new cities. The company would set up operations in Pune and Delhi in the first quarter and Bengaluru in the second quarter of 2016.”

The Mumbai-headquartered startup has earlier raised US$1.5 million led by IDG Ventures and Inventus Capital in January 2015.

Founded in 2014, Aasaanjobs is an online marketplace for entry-level jobs. It provides a platform where recruiters meet job seekers. It aims to bridge the gap between employers and job seekers through a two-way matchmaking system on their web portal as well as mobile app.

The company’s advanced, two-way matchmaking algorithm filters through its database to only connect candidates whose profiles and job expectations meet client requirements. This makes the entire process quick, effective and convenient for both job seekers and recruiters.
