AppShack selection process also involves pitching in a reality show
AppShack Asia officially launched today in Kuala Lumpur, in an event that was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Jailani Johari, Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia.
With the aim to bridge ‘up-and-coming startups with organisations that potentially have the need for mobile application ideas and innovation’, AppShack offers a platform to enable startups to develop innovative ideas by offering mentorship and guidance through technical expertise, assistance in business structure, legal advice and financial funding.
The company connects successful applicants to investors and partners including those of consortium, venture capitalist or bankers who see the value in their ideas.
“In line with the government’s effort in creating a vibrant startup environment as part of the National Key Economic Areas, AppShack intends to take the ideas of startups to the next level … With the ever evolving technology, innovations will continuously play an integral role in transforming the Malaysian startup scene,” said Jin Tan, Founder and CEO of AppShack.

What is interesting about AppShack is that the selection process for the programme involves pitching in a reality show, which is reminiscence of American TV show Shark Tank.
Judged by the founders of AppShack, the pitching process aims to appeal to the interests of potential investors or partners. The investors and partners will then fund, mentor, and coach those who are selected.
The reality show itself will kick off by end of March.
Founded in 2015, AppShack alumni includes Biztory, Sportsplay, Alakad, and Mini Tanks.
