The launch comes four months after it acquired Caarly, a Singapore-based used car marketplace startup
Major Singapore-based p2p marketplace Carousell has launched a used motor vehicles classifieds app called Carousell Motors. The marketplace will feature used cars and used bikes listed by individual sellers as well as verified dealerships.
Carousell Motors is Carousell’s first new app since the startup was founded in 2012. The launch will bolster Carousell’s position in Asia’s motor vehicles classifieds space; four months ago, it had acquired Singapore-based used cars marketplace iCaarly.
With Carousell Motors, buyers will be able to search for motor vehicles based on a number of categories and filters including make, model, dealers, financing options, and car depreciation.
They will also be able to chat with dealerships on the app. All listings will concurrently be made available on the main Carousell app.
“The spike in growth of Carousell’s Cars category over the last few months is a signal to us that people are looking for more quality choices, and credible information from trustworthy sellers. We believe a dedicated app for serious car buyers will give them a more personalised and breezier car shopping experience, and bring greater value to our community,” said co-founder and CEO of Carousell Siu Rui Quek, in an official press statement.

“From our frequent engagements with car dealers and car buyers, we understand their dissatisfaction with current platforms for buying and selling cars. By constantly innovating and using the latest technology to make car buying and selling enjoyable, we are well-positioned to disrupt current industry offerings and become the top cars classifieds in Singapore,” added Sanjay Shivkumar, Head of Carousell Motors.
Besides iCaarly’s acquisition, Carousell has made two other acquisitions in the past few months: personal safety app Watch Over Me and Malaysia-based mobile classifieds startup Duriana.
Today, Carousell is available in over 19 cities, and has accumulated over 57 million listings in its database.
