Winners to receive mentorship, office space, facilities and a US$25,000 worth of micro-investment from the organisers

Winners: Saloneses, Perkfec, and Navi

Southeast Asian accelerator and early stage investor 1337 Ventures announced the three winners of the first batch of Alpha Startups Vietnam, hosted in partnership with Mekong Business Initiative and Dreamplex.

They are:

1. Saloneses, founded by Nguyen Ngoc Hoai Aan. The startup is a mobile first beauty booking service.

2. Perkfec, founded by Toan Nguyen. The startup provides a platform that allows businesses to track employee achievements and reward them for it.

3. Navi, founded by Tam Vu. The startup is a booking marketplace for hour-based karaoke rooms.

The winners are set to receive up to US$25,000 worth of funds and services, plus three months acceleration at Dreamplex’s coworking space in Ho Chi Minh City.

Alpha Startups Vietnam is a five-day idea validation programme who had over 100 applications with only 25 teams selected into the bootcamp. The 25 teams were then narrowed down to 10 finalists.

The programme aims to help the startups “hit the ground running” and be ready for seed investment at its completion.

“A lot of investment – from MBI and others – has gone into building Vietnam’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. At Alpha Startups, we saw evidence that it’s working. Vietnam is starting to produce innovative, investable startup ideas and management teams capable of implementing them. Vietnam has a very bright future if we can continue this trend towards greater innovation, diverse options for finance and investment, and a more supportive policy environment for small business,” according to an official statement by 1337 Ventures.

During the event, the participants had the opportunity to undergo mentorship from leading entrepreneurs and companies such as Jonah Levey from VietnamWorks, Bui Hai An from Silicon Straits Saigon, Jon Myers from Jon Myers Design Studio and Hai Viet Ho from Triip.Me.

Alpha Startups Vietnam saw participants coming not only from Vietnam, but also from neighbouring countries such as Singapore. Participants from corporations were reportedly present to understand and implement the lessons to a product that they are about to launch. The event also saw its youngest participant who was 14 years old.
