The startup plans to allocate some funds for R&D activities

On-demand services marketplace Seekmi today announced that it has received a ‘seven digit’ Series A funding led by CyberAgent Ventures. Other investors joining in the round are Ventek Ventures, Convergence Ventures, Kinara, Grupara, and Balancop.

The Jakarta-based startup plans to use the fund to develop products hire new talents, and expand operations outside of Greater Jakarta area, with focus on Bali, Medan, Surabaya, Semarang, and Makassar in the upcoming months.

“A great amount of the funding will be allocated for technological advances through reserach and development (R&D). We will develop our IT team and recruit the best engineers to build a more intelligent, responsive, and reliable Seekmi team,” said Seekmi COO Clarissa Leung.

Seekmi was launched in August 2015 by founders Nayoko Wicaksono and Clarissa Leung. It was one of the first batch of Indonesian startups participating in Google Launchpad Accelerator.

Previously, Seekmi had received investments from EMTEK Group, Justin.tv Founder Justin Kan, and former Minister of Trade Mari Elka Pangestu.

The startup claims that it has secured more than 500 types of services available in the platform (from handymen to photographers), 5,000 professional service providers on board, and 250,000 searches on their platform.

The market for on-demand services marketplace in Indonesia is rife with competition. Apart from Seekmi, startups that provide similar services are Ahlijasa, Carijasa, Tukang.id, Kaodim’s Beres, and RecomN’s Sejasa.
