The Indonesian startup is basically Uber for handyman services such as water and gas vendor, AC repair, cleaning service, and construction workers
West Jakarta-based on-demand service Tukang.id launched its mobile app on Google Play Store.
Though still in beta version, the mobile app features the company’s key services which is an online marketplace that connects customers with drinking water and cooking gas vendors, air conditioner (AC) repair service, cleaning service, and construction worker.
The services are all divided into different categories as each category requires different data inputs, such as the size of the house for cleaning service vendors.
Most of the categories are already functioning except for the construction worker one.
In an interview with DailySocial, apart from his own personal experience, Founder Daniel Rannu stated that he was also inspired by what Go-Jek has achieved.
“[The success of] Go-Jek really opened our eyes, for us this is the moment of truth. We realised that we can actually overcome the issue of finding a reliable handyman service. Turned out that our market is ready for such service … We are more confident now that this on-demand service is a feasible business,” he said.
Starting from construction worker, during its inception Rannu and his team decided to expand their offers.
“We tried to look at existing problems on the ground. Turned out that people often have difficulties finding cleaning, AC repair services, even [vendors that can do home delivery of] products such as a gallon of Aqua (a popular drinking water brand) … So we are thinking of becoming a one-app-for-all, but for only for services that one would need at home. So that we can remain focussed,” he explained.

Founded in November 2015, Tukang.id has received an undisclosed amount of seed funding from an unnamed angel investor.
There are three different Tukang.id apps for three different parties: The customers, the handymen, and the handymen team manager.
Once a customer had submitted a request into the app, the manager will receive a notification on the vendor’s version of the app. The manager will then allocate the task to available handymen, who will receive notification on their own app. The handymen will also be able to notify if he is currently doing or has finished a task.
The company’s service is currently only available in West Jakarta area, though it has plans to expand to Greater Jakarta Area by end of 2016.
In this sector, Tukang.id will compete with Ahlijasa and Seekmi.
