The SaaS-based customer support company employs around 620 people across its two offices in India and the US
Freshdesk is one of the fastest-growing B2B companies in India. Its mission is to make it easy for brands to talk to their customers and make it easy for users to get in touch with businesses
Founded in 2010 by Girish Mathrubootham and Shan Krishnasamy, the firm provides cloud-based customer support software. Its flagship product allows organisations to support customers through email, phone, websites, mobile apps, forums and social media.
The idea for its flagship product was the result of a bad customer experience, thanks to a broken TV. The founders saw a need for a better customer support solution that could help provide better customer experience, and also scale as companies grow.
So they started building one. Six months later, in June 2011, Freshdesk won the Microsoft BizSpark Startup Challenge and one hundred days after that it celebrated its 100th customer.
Freshdesk has two offices — one in Chennai (South India) and the other in San Francisco (US).
The company recently made its ninth expansion. Earlier, it had a 60,000 sq. ft. office on Block B of SP Infocity. Now, it has leased 60,000 sq. ft. more on Block C. Interestingly, the entire office space is located on one single floor.
With a 625-member strong team, Freshdesk has footprints not just in India and the US, but across many geographies.
A B2B company, Freshdesk has 50,000 customers around the world that include popular brands such as 3M, Honda, Hugo Boss, University of Pennsylvania, The Atlantic, and Petronas.
In February this year, Freshdesk acquired Framebench, an online collaboration platform that enables teams to share, review, and comment on videos, images, presentations, and documents.
Earlier, it had bought mobile-first engagement startup Konotor.
Last April, Freshdesk closed US$50 million Series E funding from Tiger Global, Google Capital and Accel Partners.
Prior to that, it had secured US$31 million in Series D from Tiger Global and Accel Partners.
On a global level, Freshdesk competes with NYSE-listed Zendesk.
