Ahlijasa, an Indonesian startup that provides on-demand laundry services in and around Greater Jakarta Area, has raised an undisclosed sum in seed funding from city-based VC firm Indogen Capital.

Existing investor Fenox VC and Silicon Valley-based 500 Startups have also joined the round.

The capital will be used to improve the services and ramp up hiring, especially on the technology side. “We want to improve our product offerings and introduce our service to more customers especially in Greater Jakarta Area before we expand our business to other cities in Indonesia,” CEO Jay Jayawijayaningtiyas said in a statement.

Established in September 2015, Ahlijasa started off with three services — laundry, AC repair, and home cleaning. By the end of 2016, the startup stopped AC repair and home cleaning services, and turned its focus only to laundry.

Ahlijasa offers on-demand pick-up and delivery services right at the customers’ doorsteps. Customers can put in as many clothes as possible in the standardised laundry bag provided by the firm, for a flat fee of IDR 49,000 (US$3.68) per bag.

Anis Uzzman, CEO of Fenox VC, said: “We strongly believe that Ahlijasa will be an industry leader very soon. They have started with a key industry and will be able to scale to a variety of different industries with this funding.”

Ahlijasa was part of the first batch of Fenox-VC-backed GnB Accelerator Program in August 2016. Since graduation, Ahlijasa claims to have tripled its active user base, and now its services are available in Jabodetabek. Customers can book laundry service using its wed and mobile apps (iOS and Android).
