#Asia Infinium Robotics CEO Woon Junyang charged over unpaid employee salaries

33-year-old Woon Junyang is the CEO of Singapore startup Infinium Robotics

Woon Junyang, the CEO and sole director of Singapore-based drone software startup Infinium Robotics, has been charged over unpaid employee salaries.

In a press release issued by the Ministry of Manpower (MoM), Woon has been slapped with four charges:

  • 3 counts for failure to pay salary to employee upon dismissal.
  • 1 count for failure to pay salary due on termination by employee due
    to breach of contract by the employer.

According to the MoM website, employers who fail to pay salaries to their employees can be fined up to S$15,000 (US$10,700) and/or imprisoned up to six months. The penalty can be doubled for repeat offenders.

When e27 reached out to Woon for a comment, he said: “Unfortunately, I cannot comment on this case as the court proceedings is still ongoing.”

Woon is a Stanford University and University College London alumnus. He is also a former Naval officer who served for seven years.

In 2014, Woon founded Infinium Robotics with the goal of developing drone technology that will serve the on-demand economy as well as industrial applications.
