A leading university application platform in Asia, EasyUni claims 5 million people have used the site

VIETNAM FINAL

EasyUni, Malaysia’s online portal for higher education, has announced today it has expanded into Vietnam with a new platform soft launch.

The move comes about seven months after the company raised a Series B round and expressed a desire to use the funding to enter new markets.

“With a large population of more than 90 million, Internet penetration of more than 52 per cent and its government allocating a whopping 22 per cent of their annual budget into education sector, we believe the timing is right for EasyUni to expand into this youthful country” said EasyUni Group CEO Edwin Tay in an official statement.

He added that education is essential for the growth of a country’s economic value chain, but in Vietnam it can be a challenge for students to find platforms that best suite their needs.

EasyUni is localising an entirely unique platform for Vietnam. It is different because, previously, a user could certainly visit the site and look into university options in Vietnam (or 20 other countries), but the actual platform was not uniquely tailored for the country.

Now, EasyUni Vietnam will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of the larger company in Malaysia.

“We hope this will increase our competitiveness versus foreign institutions,” said Vietnam Country GM Justin Trinh. “EasyUni Vietnam’s aim is to become the ‘go-to- place’ for Vietnamese students whenever they are shopping for their right university.”

Launched in 2011, EasyUni is a leading education platform in Asia and has 2,000 institutions on its platforms. The company claims 5 million people have used the site to search, compare and apply for universities.

One company similar companies in the region include Edukasyon.ph in the Philippines and Cialfo in Singapore.

In December, the company raised its Series B from the AXIATA Digital Innovation Fund.
