The week saw the launch of various platforms, from services marketplace to events booking app

This week seems pretty busy for Indonesian startup community, with at least four new product launch events — both from newcomers and old players — taking place.

These new apps are working in a sector with plenty of competitions already, such as food delivery and events booking platform.

Will they have the chance to steal the show and disrupt the market? Or are they going to be just another face in the crowd, forgotten before they even got to make a mark?

Only time will tell.

FindTukang

On Monday, on-demand services marketplace platform FindTukang finally launched in form of a mobile app. Connecting users to professionals from TV repairmen to barbers, the startup was founded by Nope Lavanda (CEO), Tom Reksodipuro (CFO), Putra Manindra (CCO), and Handoko Hamid (COO) in January.

It received funding from angel investor named Henry Tjiandra Djaya.

For the moment, the service is only available in South Tangerang area, and the company is planning to reach Depok and Greater Jakarta Area soon.

On-demand marketplace for services is currently a hot subsector in Indonesia, with Seekmi recently announcing a ‘seven digits’ Series A.

Shopback

Cashback platform Shopback is definitely not a new face in Southeast Asian startup scene. It first entered the Indonesian market in mid-2015, but only launched its mobile app on Tuesday.

According to Shopback Indonesia Co-Founder and Country Manager Indra Yonathan, Indonesia was chosen to be the first country where the mobile app is launched due to its high smartphone penetration rate.

However, the company also claimed that the number of users accessing their desktop site remains high at 1.6 million active users by May.

It currently partners with up to 80 merchants including e-commerce giants Bukalapak, Tokopedia, Berrybenka, Zalora, Lazada, and MatahariMall.

Jiggie

Jiggie is an events booking app that allows users to browse for upcoming events in the city and book their reservations. It comes complete with social media features enabling users to find companions who are also going to the same event.

The New York City-based startup claims to have partnered with 20 businesses, from event organisers to bars and clubs in Jakarta.

“I see that there are many events in Jakarta distributed through various social media platforms, but there is no platform that is able to give extra benefits for its users,” said Jiggie CEO Han Kao.

Alakart

Alakart is an online marketplace for food and beverage services. Currently available for Android devices, the startup differentiates its service by allowing users to order food delivery from home-based businesses.

“Alakart gives a solution for housewives who wish to sell their cookings without having to open up a restaurant, while giving new option for foodies,” said Alakart CEO Yuanita Handoko.

The startup has strict requirements for home businesses who wish to put their service in the platform, and monitor their quality closely.

Alakart is a subsidiary of Adamobile.
