Plug and Play Indonesia (PNP Indonesia), a Silicon Valley-based startup accelerator, announced the 11 startups selected to participate in the first batch of its accelerator programme. The startups are entitled to facilities provided by PNP Indonesia and US$50,000 early stage funding.

Prior to the announcement, the 11 startups had to go through a grueling selection process for two months. In total, more than 400 startups had applied to the Plug and Play Indonesia programme from Greater Jakarta Area, Bandung, Jogjakarta, Bali, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Brazil, and Germany. The number was broken down to 50 startups joining the pitching process in March.

During the pitch, the startups have to explain their team profile, business model tractions, and financial plan. After passing through the stage, they would be allowed to pitch in front of PNP Indonesia, PNP Asia Pacific, PNP Silicon Valley, and representatives of PNP Indonesia partner companies.

After being selected, all the startups receive the opportunity to collaborate with corporations and to get an early stage funding of US$50,000. Apart from that, they will also get a one-on-one mentorship programme by 60 mentors from all fields for three months. They will also work at Rework Kuningan during the duration of the programme.

“The startups were not chosen based on how long they have operated. What matters most is the traction they have created despite having been around for only a few months. We can also see from the experience of the team itself. It is our job to help them grow,” said PNP Indonesia Accelerator Director Nayoko Wicaksono on Monday.
