Investors at StartupNation and Start Global Ventures have invested in the company

Sphere, a Singapore-based Point-of-Sale (POS) system integration company, has raised SGD$340,000 (over US$250,000) in seed funding from investors at StartupNation and Start Global Ventures. The investment was facilitated through online fund-raising platform Fundnel.

The company will use the money to grow its marketing and sales team in Singapore and Malaysia, where Sphere hopes to expand next year.

Sphere was founded by Timothy Han, a veteran of the F&B industry and Director of Palm Beach Seafood, and Christopher Cai, a seasoned developer who helped shape and build multiple successful startup products such as Viddsee.

Currently a low-cost solution that can handle advanced menu ordering, table management, as well as basic staff management functions, Sphere seeks to develop a way for restaurants to integrate data across multiple systems.

“There are a lot of amazing apps and services out there targeted at addressing retail and F&B pain points, such as reservation, loyalty programme and mobile waiter apps. Unfortunately, it’s very difficult for F&B owners with limited staff resources to manage multiple systems and provide good service at the same time,” said Christopher. “Our goal is to become a platform for our app partners.”

By bringing together F&B solutions from partner apps, Sphere hopes to help F&Bs simplify their operational workflow while reaping the benefits of multiple services through integration.

Sphere’s existing client base spans a wide range of different F&B types, including a small full-service Chinese restaurant, several cafes and a bespoke bar.
