The Singapore-based media startup incubator has announced a partnership with crowdfunding platform FundedHere

Leading Singapore media organisation Mediacorp is on a drive to help Singapore-based media startups raise seed funding.

Today, its media startup incubator Mediapreneur has announced a partnership with equity-based and lending crowdfunding platform FundedHere. This move will enable Mediapreneur’s portfolio startups to raise seed funding through crowdfunding. Mediapreneur will also seek to connect FundedHere with other startups.

One of its media startups, advertising solutions company Spotted!, has already raised S$375,000 (US$262,000) through FundedHere. It attends to use the funds to help advertisers increase engagement audiences by transforming digital advertisements into games.

“We are pleased that the first Mediapreneur startup we put on the Fundedhere platform was able to reach its fund raising target very efficiently. The platform works well for seed stage companies seeking capital before Series A. It certainly works for us and we expect to do more in the coming years following this successful partnership,” said Mediacorp’s Head of Strategic Planning, Guillaume Sachet, in an official press statement.

Launched in 2013, Mediapreneur provides seed funding, mentoring, working space, intellectual property and networking opportunities for startups. Through Mediapreneur, its startups can also tap into Mediacorp’s vast media resources including TV, radio, print and online platforms to broaden its reach.

While the incubator is open to foreign startups, they are required to relocate and incorporate their companies in Singapore once they have been accepted into the programme.
