US-based Houzz has already onboarded 3,000 Singapore-based housing professionals and 150,000 Singaporean clients

US-based home renovation and design marketplace Houzz has officially launched in Singapore. The platform will be tailored for the Singapore market and will be available on the desktop, iOS and Android.

More than 150,000 Singaporean homeowners are currently using the platform and over 3,000 home renovation and design professionals have signed up.

Globally, it experiences over 40 million monthly unique users, and has over a million housing professionals on board.

Founded in 2009, Houzz matches clients with over 60 categories of housing professionals including architects, interior designers, product designers, etcetera.

In a press release, it promises to deliver over 10 million retina-quality photos of home designs and house tours to Singaporean homeowners. They can also acquire guides and advices from local home renovation and design professionals, as well as discuss their ideas with a global community of homeowners and housing experts.

Houzz has raised US$213.6 million to date, with a valuation of US$2.3 billion. It has international offices in London, Berlin, Sydney, Moscow and Tokyo.

It is, however, not the only home renovation marketplace in Singapore; local startup Qanvast offers similar services, with a heavy emphasis of vendor curation.

Whether that value proposition will be enough for Qanvast to hold its own against the unicorn from the valley Houzz, we will check back in the coming months.
