#Asia TotallyAwesome raises US$2M to empower kid-safe advertising in SEA, Australia

Kids digital advertising and content platform TotallyAwesome announced today that it has raised US$2 million of funding from well-known UK investor Nigel Wray.

The company also announced that it is set to launch its kid-safe social content app PopJam in Southeast Asia (SEA) and Australia, which is claimed to be a “huge hit” amongst the under-13 audience in the UK and US.

Establshed in 2015, TotallyAwesome is the result of a partnership between London-based tech platform for kids’ digial media SuperAwesome and Southeast Asian venture builder Inspire Ventures.

It claims to be the largest kid-safe digital advertising platform in SEA and Australia with “over 100 million” kids reached.

The company is headquartered in Singapore with offices in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Australia.

According to a report by Kidscreen, SuperAwesome’s foray into content is not “a far stretch” from its parent company’s business line, which specialises in advertising. The reason being Founder and Chairman of SuperAwesome Asia Dylan Collins was on the board of animation studio Brown Bag Films prior to its acquisition by 9 Story in 2015.

The company had also recently appointed Paul Nunn as Chief Strategy Officer. He was responsible for Outfit7′s Talking Tom YouTube strategy when he served as Managing Director to the company, and is also an advisor for The Roald Dahl Lietrary Estate.

Often dubbed by the media as UK’s own Warren Buffett, Nigel Wray have invested in property and equity market since 1986. In the tech field, his portfolio includes London-based online marketplace for mattress Simba Sleep and London-based online investment service Nutmeg.

He also sits as chairman of rugby club the Saracens.
