The data was crowdsourced using the MyConnection SG app
Reports have shown that Singapore boasts the fastest WiFi connection speed in the world, and its 4G LTE speeds are second only to New Zealand.
But where in Singapore would someone find optimal 4G connection speeds; and which telco provides the best services?
Singapore’s ‘one-stop portal for publicly-available datasets’ — Data.gov.sg — has released its findings from MyConnectionSG, an iOS and Android app which crowdsources 4G mobile broadband data. The data consists of 1,582,521 anonymised readings collected by IDA last year from July 1 to Dec 31.
So here it is:
For those living in the East, give all yourselves a big high five, because you had the fastest median 4G connectivity at 16.13 mbps.
Second in place was the West at 14.88 mbps, followed closely by the North at 14.39 mbps. North-east was slightly lower at 14.14 mbps.
Those living in the central experience the slowest median 4G connection at 14.05 mbps.

Singtel is ahead
In a similar report by the IDA, it stated that the median 4G connection in Singapore is 17.4 mbps.
The analysis also delved into the median 4G speeds among the three telcos – Singtel emerged top at 18.6 mbps.
StarHub and M1 were nearly neck to neck at 16.8 mbps and 16.7 mbps respectively.
