Only four per cent of insurtech companies in the world are founded by women

Insurance is an industry that is traditionally dominated by men. According to DIW Managerinnen Barometer 2016, even in European nations such as Germany, only nine per cent of the managers in insurance companies were women in 2015. Ten years earlier, women were only a minority of 2.5 per cent.

German insurtech company Friendsurance compiled data about women in insurtech companies around the world, which revealed that 20 out of 535 insurtech companies worldwide (only four per cent) were founded by women.
