Cornflix TV will use newly-raised capital to expand its team and ramp up marketing
Singapore-based video streaming platform Cornflix.TV has announced it has closed a six figure seed round from 500 Startups, PT SEA, and Formation 8 partner Dr. Wong Mun Yew.
The newly-raised capital will be used to expand its team and ramp up marketing efforts.
Created by Co-founders Lee Ken Ming and Sudhan Raj of Peas in a Pod— who also built Singapore’s leading movie tickets booking app Popcorn — Cornflix.TV curates videos from top global media brands including TechCrunch, Mashable, Wired, Buzzfeed, Redbull, Vevo, Jimmy Kimmel, Ellen and Michelle Phan.

There are over 500 channels in categories such as News & Business, Tech, Food & Drink, Sports, Music and Entertainment. An official press release said over a million minutes of content are currently available.
“In the same way smartphones replaced feature phones, most TVs today are either already ‘smart’ TVs or can be made smart by connecting our laptops or devices like Apple TV. So we have the smart hardware, but how about the smart content for it? 500 Startups sees Cornflix TV as a critical piece of this massive ecosystem of entertainment, and the Ken Ming’s team as the team to make this happen,” said Khailee Ng, Managing Partner of 500 Startups.
The app is available on the desktop, iOS, Android, Android TV and Apple TV.
