#Africa Applications open for TechWomen entrepreneurship programme

//

The TechWomen mentorship and exchange programme has opened applications for its 2017 batch, seeking young women from Africa and elsewhere that wish to enter STEM careers.

An initiative of the US Department of State, TechWomen has been launched to identify women with the potential to become leaders in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics space. It has 22 programme countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

“TechWomen empowers, connects and supports the next generation of women leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) from Africa, Central and South Asia, and the Middle East by providing them the access and opportunity needed to advance their careers, pursue their dreams, and inspire women and girls in their communities,” the organisation said.

“Through mentorship and exchange, TechWomen strengthens participants’ professional capacity, increases mutual understanding between key networks of professionals, and expands girls’ interest in STEM careers by exposing them to female role models.

Applicants must be women with at least two years full-time professional experience in STEM fields, with a bachelor’s degree and eligible to obtain a US J-1 exchange visitor visa. Applications are open here until January 17.
