Jakarta-based Worktrees receives the investment from angel investor Grace Tahir
Indonesian online marketplace for software developers Worktrees announced that they have raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from angel investor Grace Tahir, supported by Angel Investment Network Indonesia (ANGIN).
The funding will be used mainly for marketing and business development. This year, the Jakarta-based startup also plans to hire two to three people for their developer and sales & marketing team.
As an online marketplace for software developers, Worktrees’ platform aims to help software developers market, promote, and sell their services to wider public in a “fast and easy way.”
Available as a desktop site, SMEs can use the platform to search, book, and manage projects using a web dashboard. The services offered in the marketplace including web development, app development, game development, desktop app development, UI & UX, and User Testing.
Founded in 2016, the Worktrees team currently consists of four: Michael Tjoeng (CEO, co-founder), Denindra R. Randitya Putra (CTO, co-founder), Kenny Djoni Putra (COO, co-founder), and Diles (Head of Design). The co-founders are graduates of the Pelita Harapan University, and the startup is advised by Lazada Indonesia CMO Sebastian Sieber.
Angel investor Grace Tahir is known as the Director of Mayapada Hospital. She has also co-founded several healthtech startups such as Medico, BibbyCam, and dokter.id.
In an e-mail to e27, Tahir explained the reason that draws her to invest in Worktrees.
“I invest in companies that can provide strong synergies with my companies. Our record shows that we always use the products, that the startups I have invested in, make. Worktrees will help fill in the shortage of technical talent that we face, and most other companies face as well,” she said.
