#Africa Last chance to apply for Seedstars Tanzania

//

Global early-stage startups competition Seedstars World has opened applications to the Tanzanian leg of the contest, with the country’s top 10 startups to pitch for a place in the global finals and the chance to win up to US$500,000 investment.

This year’s edition of Seedstars World sees the world-touring contest include visits to more than 25 cities across Africa, with new countries such as Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Mauritius, Madagascar, Sudan and Zambia added to its tour.

The winner from each local event is invited to the finals of the competition, to be held at the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland in April 2018, where finalists compete for up to US$500,000 in equity investment.

The Tanzanian edition of the competition will be held in Dar es Salaam on July 20, at Buni Innovation Hub.

“It has always been my passion to be part of the growth process of startup companies in my country. Being the Tanzanian Seedstars ambassador for two years now has given me the opportunity to put smiles on startups by showing them the best ways to make their companies investment ready and it’s so far working perfectly,” says Maryam Mgonja from Buni Hub.

Last year, Tanzanian health micro-insurance startup Jamiii was one of three African startups to make the final 12 of the global competition, and pitched head-to-head against the other finalists for the equity prize at the Seedstars Summit.

Founder of Jamii, Lilian Makoi, was also nominated for the best female entrepreneur prize.

Applications to Seedstars Tanzania are available here, until July 13.
