#Africa 5 East African tech hubs partner for regional accelerator

//

Kenyan incubator m:lab has announced a partnership between multiple tech hubs in the East African region to host a six month accelerator programme, Traction Camp.

Traction Camp is a regional acceleration program aimed at supporting the creation of globally competitive, growth-oriented, mobile and digital technology businesses in East Africa.

The six month programme takes participants through a rapid-cycle competitive curriculum to boost business’ growth, and matches startups to appropriate capital and business mentors.

The hubs partnering for the programme include Uganda’s Outbox, Buni in Tanzania, Rwanda-based kLab, and iceaddis in Ethiopia.

“The partnership with the tech hubs will go a long way in ensuring that the best digital entrepreneurs in different countries in the region participate in programme. The hubs will help to reach out and create opportunities to a larger group of growth-oriented digital entrepreneurs, so that the impact of the programme is felt across the region,” said m:lab.

A series of workshops is set to take place around the East African region over the coming weeks, introducing the programme, planned curriculum, and application requirements.

The first sessions will be held on January 25 at kLab, and at Buni hub on January 26.  These are followed by two sessions on February 2, at Outbox and iceaddis.

Applications to the first cohort are also already open, and can be made here, until February 12.
