Chinese telecommunications electronics giant Huawei has partnered with NUS Enterprise (the entrepreneurial arm of NUS) to launch an Internet-of-Things (IoT) startup accelerator called i5Lab.

It will be located in the heart of Singapore’s startup ecosystem in Block 71 at the One North district.

Startups incubated in the i5Lab will gain access to Huawei’s in-depth expertise in developing IoT products — smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches — and go-to-market strategies. Startups will also be able to network with investors, mentors, and trial-run their solutions in industry-grade test beds.

Additionally, startups will be able to leverage on Huawei’s partnership with 45 leading telecommunication partners to scale their products to different markets and verticals.

They will also be invited to participate in joint marketing through Huawei’s Customer Solution Innovation & Integration Experience Center (CSIC), and large-scale events such as NUS Enterprise’s flagship event InnovFest unbound and CommunicAsia.

“With one of the most connected societies, open data sets and high-skilled ready talent, Singapore is an
excellent test bed to nurture IoT ideas that will bring us closer to a smarter future,” said Lim Chee Siong, Chief Marketing Officer, Huawei Southern Pacific, in an official press release.

With the market for IoT products expected to hit US$14.4 trillion by 2022, coupled with Singapore’s goal to become the world’s first Smart Nation, Huawei’s decision to launch an IoT accelerator in the country comes at an opportune time.

Interested startups can submit their applications using this form here. The deadline for submission is on January 30, 2017.
