We all know starting up is not easy, but it becomes quite impossible to do it right when you read and trust in the wrong information. Helping startups find the right investors and investments is the aim of Venturra Capital’s Managing Partner Stefan Jung, who will deliver a talk titled: “Debunking Startup Investment Myths in SEA” on the Echelon Indonesia 2016’s Innovation stage.

Even though Southeast Asia’s emerging markets are growing at an exponential rate, there is still much to learn from mature startup hubs such as Silicon Valley, Oslo and Athens. Having sunk his roots in the Southeast Asia venture capital scene since 2011, Jung has been hard at work improving the region’s startup ecosystem through stints in Singapore-based Monk’s Hill Ventures and his own venture fund, Lippo-backed Venturra Capital, a US$150 million venture capital fund focused on SEA.

Jung made his mark in Southeast Asia when he co-founded HappyFresh, an online grocery company, as well as being the Founder and Managing Director of Rocket Internet Southeast Asia, where he co-founded several of Southeast Asia’s largest e-commerce companies, including Zalora and Lazada, which raised over US$400 million in funding.

Previously, he was a Venture Partner at Global Founders Capital, Rocket’s early-stage US$200 million venture capital fund. Prior to his entrepreneurial career, he was a strategy consultant at BCG and Bain, where he focused on private equity investments. Jung obtained his B.S. degree from a global program from the Copenhagen Business School, University of North Carolina, and Tsinghua University in Beijing. He graduated with a MBA from London Business School.
