#Africa Kenyans to compete for place at GMC final in Macau

//

The final of the Global Management Challenge (GMC) will take place on Saturday, March 5 in Nairobi, with seven teams vying for a place at the international final in Macau in April.

The GMC – which has been running worldwide since 1980 and is present in 35 countries – aims to provide a unique form of “experiential learning”, allowing students to enhance their skills in business management, critical thinking, strategy and teamwork.

Disrupt Africa reported last year the second edition of the GMC culminates in the Kenya National Final, with the national winner then going on to represent Kenya at the International Finals in April in Macao, off the coast of Hong Kong.

The seven teams competing in the final – which will take place at the new Nairobi Garage in Westlands – are Jambo Solutions, Asi Bikaashi, Team Lapid, Back Benchers, Tyrant, Fuzu Syndicate and WinnersK.

In the previous round, the teams competed online over five weeks in running a fictional manufacturing business, making 75 decisions each week for their company. Teams made decisions on production, human resources, sales, marketing and finance.

The national final will be based along similar lines, with simulator software run at the end of each set of decisions. The simulator can also churn out a different scenario so teams may have to change strategy as they go along.
