Microsoft has launched its first #Insiders4Good East African fellowship programme, seeking entrepreneurs in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania building solutions addressing the daily challenges facing people living in the region.

The Microsoft Windows Insiders Programme is a global community of over seven million people using technology and global relationships to make an impact on the world.

As part of Windows Insiders, Microsoft launched the #Insiders4Good Fellowship programme in Nigeria last year, with the aim of finding local innovators who are actively solving problems affecting their communities.

Microsoft has now partnered with Kenya-based GrowthAfrica to roll out the programme in East Africa.

25 entrepreneurs will be selected from across Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania to join a six month mentorship programme, to be kicked off with an one-week learning event for Fellows and mentors.

The six month mentorship includes tailored technical and strategic mentorship from local and international leaders to help take the Fellows’ ideas to the next level.

In addition, all Fellows will receive a premier suite of Windows hardware and software.

To be eligible to apply, entrepreneurs must be registered members of the Windows Insider Programme; be a resident of Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania or Uganda; be over 18; and have an early stage idea or business with a product or service that will improve the lives of East African people.

The product or service must not have been selected as a winner in any previous competition.

Applications are available here, until March 31. Fellows will be announced on May 15.
