#Africa Nigeria’s Ventures Platform to host demo day

The Nigerian accelerator Ventures Platform is to present the six companies that formed its second cohort at a demo day in Lagos on September 15, showcasing the startups to investors and ecosystem stakeholders.

Launched last year, Ventures Platform is a full-service innovation hub based in Abuja which runs a 16-week hybrid incubation programme, a residence for need-based cohorts and a paid co-working space for freelance entrepreneurs and professionals.

Disrupt Africa reported in June it had chosen six startups to take part in its latest programme, with these startups now set to conclude the accelerator by pitching at the demo day at Genesis Cinemas, Lagos.

The startups are localised SaaS accounting platform Accounteer, subscription-based preventive healthcare service for older people Gerocare, fashion e-commerce platform Lastprice, off-campus hostel booking and roommate finding platform MyPadi, agricultural crowdfunding service Thrive Agric, and content streaming startup VIVA.

“Through its accelerator, Ventures Platform has funded companies who have deployed solutions much needed by Africa in finance, logistics, data, communication and educational sector of the economy,” Ventures Platform said.

In January, Ventures Platform showcased its first cohort of six companies.
