#Africa Seedstars picks 8 startups for Lagos event

//

Seedstars World has selected eight Nigerian startups to compete to represent the country at the global final in Switzerland next year for the chance to win up to US$1.5 million in equity investment prizes.

Seedstars World has already picked winning startups in Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa, Mozambique, and Angola, and will return to Lagos tomorrow (August 11) with the support of Omidyar Network and local ambassador Seedspace.

The startups that will pitch for a place in the global final are e-learning platform Davtonlearn, tutoring platform Tuteria, registrations portal Legal Form, cooking gas retail platform Quick Gas, savings tool Piggybank.ng, health platform Kangpe, data and analytics startup Grit Systems, and lending solution Social Lender.

“Our mission is to discover startups that come from bustling, emerging economies like Nigeria and give them access to opportunities for support and funding,” said Benjamin Benaim, founding partner at Seedstars.

“Specially this year, we have launched our first physical co-working space in Nigeria called Seedspace, and the Seedstars Academy, where we are constantly striving to add more value to our startups. Therefore, I am very excited for our Seedstars World event in Lagos.”

The eight startups were chosen from over 100 applications.
