#Africa Standard Chartered running female-focused Kenyan accelerator

//

Applications have opened for the Standard Chartered Women in Technology Incubator Kenya, which offers support, mentorship and funding to female-run tech businesses.

The programme, which is run by Standard Chartered in partnership with Strathmore University’s @iBizAfrica incubator, starts early next year, with applications open until November 13.

Successful applicants will receive three months incubation at @iBizAfrica, including mentorship from world class mentors, coaching by top business, technology and legal professionals, and networking opportunities.

Ten teams will compete to secure seed funding and nine months ongoing support from Standard Chartered and @iBizAfrica to assist with go-to market and scale. Five top teams will walk away with up to US$10,000 equity-free funding.

“We are seeking to recruit the best entrepreneurial minds, women-lead startup teams leveraging on technology as a key driver of innovation in business,” Standard Chartered said.

The principle founder of applicant startups must be a woman aged 18 to 35 years old, and of Kenyan nationality. Applicants may submit applications across the thematic areas of agribusiness, education, IT, mobile solutions, digital banking, e-commerce, e-health and fintech.
