The third edition of Startup Weekend Lagos is set to take place this weekend, with the winning team to progress to the global finals and stand the chance to win US$150,000.
Startup Weekend Lagos sees developers, designers, entrepreneurs, and startup enthusiasts invited to participate in a 54 hour “bootcamp”, during which teams are formed to create new solutions complete with prototypes.
The event is hosted under the auspices of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) celebrations.
The organisers said they expect approximately 100 participants to take part in the weekend-long event, with between seven and 12 prototypes to be created by the end of the event.
Mentors from the local tech and business communities will be on hand to advise and guide the participants.
The weekend – hosted by iDEA Nigeria – culminates in a product demo event, with over 150 people expected to attend the showcase. A panel of judges will select the winner.
The winner of Startup Weekend Nigeria will advance to the Global Startup Battle, where they compete against other regional winners for the US$150,000 prize.
The event starts at 4pm on Friday, November 20, and ends at 8pm on Sunday, November 22.
Registration for the event is available here.
