#Africa VC firm Futureneers launches in SA

//

Venture capital (VC) company Futureneers has launched in South Africa, with the goal of investing in early-stage startups and nurture them through each phase of their business growth cycle.

Futureneers has been established to fill what it sees as a gap after early angel investors exit a startup to where businesses require an additional injection of capital and experience to achieve recurring revenue generation.

The company is headed by Johannes Booysen, founder of Yonder Media, the B-One Group, and Hot Dog Café Group. He is joined by the likes of ex-PwC partner Jaco Gerber, and Cipla Nutrition co-founder Deon Lewis. The advisory board includes Brent Cohen, who headed Packard Bell for 12 years.

Futureneers has formed strategic partnerships in the United States (US), United Kingdom (UK), India, China, Australia and Israel, and says it will offer startups that enter its programme access to world-class service providers through a one-stop-shop environment.

“The startup space, and especially the technology sector, has always been an exciting place to be. But today, more than ever – provided the risks are mitigated – it offers incredible returns. For us, the objective is simple: finding, nurturing and guiding the next Roelof Botha or Elon Musk, then introducing them to our influencer and funding networks around the world,” said Booysen.

“With our ‘startup machine’, international footprint and strategy, South African entrepreneurs and investors can experience what we believe is ‘real VC’ for the first time – financial support for early start-ups, professional services, and guaranteed access to a global ecosystem, along with all of the opportunities that this provides.”
