#Africa Zimbabwe’s LinkApp launches to connect mobile users with service providers

//

LinkApp has been launched in Harare, Zimbabwe, combining the concept of a messaging service with that of a classifieds platform to allow mobile users to easily communicate with service providers such as plumbers, electricians, mechanics and tutors.

While allowing Zimbabweans to find and connect with service providers, LinkApp also provides service providers with the opportunity to cost-effectively expand their reach and increase their visibility.

“We are really excited to present our solution to the world,” said Shemaiah Chipunga, chief executive officer (CEO) and founder of LinkApp. “It is our hope that LinkApp will level the playing field for new, emerging and established service providers who need help marketing their businesses.”

Users of the app – which is available on the Google Play store – can find company listings complete with contacts.

“In our African ecosystem it’s likely you contact a middleman who will waste your time and then put a mark-up on a product,” Chipunga told Disrupt Africa. “So we thought what if we can cut out the middleman and provide a platform that links you to the actual seller. Hence LinkApp.”

The app utilises localised search, putting smaller service providers on a level footing with big corporations, and utilises paid ads as well as a subscription model, where users who post more that three adverts a month pay a monthly subscription of US$1.
