Venture capital firm Ardent Capital today announced the launch of Ardent Hired, a one-stop recruitment service for Southeast Asian startups, during the Echelon Thailand 2015.

Led by John Thornton, Head of Recruitment of Ardent Capital, the company aims to help fast-growing startups with tailored recruiting services that include social recruiting, implementing recruitment process, event planning, candidate screening and evaluation, promotional design, as well as all traditional recruiting process in personal level.

Starting with Thailand and Indonesia, the service will then be extended across Southeast Asia.

“We are excited at this amazing opportunity to help drive the startup ecosystem even further by working with leading companies in the region,” said Thornton.

One of universally-acknowledged challenges of recruiting is the shortage of candidates against a massive number of vacancies and companies vying for the same people.

“Whilst I agree with this assessment to a certain extent, I believe [the problem] has something to do with the way we find the candidate,” said Thornton.

“The traditional forms of hiring and [the] way we attract candidates are changing. Companies must have a winning brand and different methods to woo the candidate … One of the things we aim to address is the ability to get in touch with the candidate,” he added.

As a solution, Ardent Hired targets and builds relationship with prospective candidates by maximising the use of social media platforms. All employers are required to have a LinkedIn profile as it helps drive candidates, and companies should also share relevant content. On the branding side, it also works with companies to create unique job posters.

Ardent Hired’s strength lies in the fact that it is one of the only active recruiting teams that have worked within the walls of a startup. Starting from Ardent’s Bangkok head office, the recruitment team helped e-commerce solution provider aCommerce grow to 700 employees from 400 in 2015.

“We are proud to have made a significant contribution to aCommerce’s growth, and ready to extend our services to companies looking to hire and retain the best candidates,” said Thornton.

“Ardent Hired is in a unique position as the team has worked side-by-side with fast-growing startups and understand the direct needs of each division, line manager and even co-founders at various stages,” said Adrian Vanzyl, CEO of Ardent Capital.

“Not many recruiting firms … have had this type of access to really dissect the recruiting challenges a startup faces,” he added.

While the service has been given automatically to all Ardent companies, the launch of Ardent Hired will require separate partnership agreements for prospective clients.

Apart from aCommerce, the recruitment team has helped to generate and place candidates in HappyFresh and Moxy.
