DailyObjects, an art- and design-focussed personal accessory startup in India, has raised INR 9 crore (US$1.33M) in funding from Unilazer Ventures, a VC fund promoted by serial investor Ronnie Screwvala.

redBus Co-founder Phanindra Sama and Lenskart CEO Peyush Bansal also participated in the round.

“This funding will allow us to launch many new lines of personal products that combine functionality with incredible style,” said Co-founder and CEO Pankaj Garg.

The funds will also be used to open brick-and-mortar stores (both independently and through tie-ups with premium retailers), and build a team and the infrastructure.

The company has previously raised funds from Mahesh Murthy co-founded SeedFund.

Founded in 2012 by Saurav Adlakha and Garg, Dailyobjects is an online platform offering over 5,000 designer and customisable smartphone cases and laptop sleeves for over 100 models of global brands. The cases are manufactured using advanced, MT3 technology to provide customers with products that are as durable as they are delightful.

DailyObjects claims to have built up an art collection of over 5,000 works from 62 artists across 25 countries. It claims to be selling 15,000 customisable smartphone cases across India every month.

India is one of the fastest-growing markets in the world for cellular phones. As smartphones get increasingly commoditised, Indian consumers are looking to individualise devices that are mass produced, yet incredibly personal.
