Here’s a question for the community: More money, or better value?

We know it’s easy to be the smart guy in the room and say “I will take US$250K in smart money.”

But are we really that smart?

Or should we just take US$2.5M in dumb money — say, for argument’s sake, raised through crowdfunding?

Thats 10 times the amount!

I ask this because a startup founder in Southeast Asia asked me this question privately. Honestly, I have no clue how best to advise him on this.

Well I left it as “There are too many darn factors, so decide on your own.”

If you were to be asked the same question, what would you advise?

And if you have had experience choosing between “smart” and “dumb” money, what factors guided you in your decision?
