Indonesian social media analytics firm GDILab announced over the weekend that it has received an undisclosed amount of funding from Andy Zain, who is known as the Director of Founders Institute (Jakarta) and the Managing Director of Kejora Ventures. The investment was given in his personal capacity as an angel investor.

According to a report by DailySocial, Zain cited GDILab’s great focus in helping SMEs and startups as his motivation to invest in the company.

“I believe in GDILab’s vision, the shareholders, the team, and what GDILab will do to help millions of SMEs and startups in Indonesia,” he said.

Founded in December 2013 by Billy Boen, Jefri Dinomo, Masas Dani, and Yopie Suryadi, in its early days GDILab had released products such as Polaris (Facebook-Twitter Analytics), Iris (Instagram Analytics), and also GNEWS (social media-based curated new platform).

In 2015, GNEWS became an independent company with Suryadi being appointed as CEO. Apart from Suryadi, Dani had also exited the company a year later.

GDILab is also developing GDI Analytics, a social media analytics tool that is a combination of Polaris and Iris.

The company aims to use the new funding to “help SMEs and startups gear themselves up for the ASEAN Economic Community with the use of research and data.”
