FindUrClass, an extra-curricular activity and hobby class curation startup, has raised a fresh round of funding from a group of investors, including members of VentureNursery, an angels-backed accelerator in India.
Other prominent angels who participated in the round include Amit Patni, Anirudh Damani and Samir Shah.
The startup will use the additional funds to scale up and expand to other Tier 1 cities. It is currently operational in Pune and Bangalore, with over 5,000 classes to choose from in each.
This is the second time that VentureNursery members have invested in FindUrClass.
The startup was founded in March 2015 by Rina Nathani, a consulting veteran who has spent over a decade with KPMG’s Advisory Practice in New York.
FindUrClass has listed over 20,000 classes across over 100 categories such as art and craft, sports and adventure, singing, music and dance, cooking and photography. It not only aggregates trainers hyper locally, but also curates classes keeping in mind safety, security, hygiene and instructor quality. Users can experience the class through videos, photographs and read user reviews before taking a decision and paying online.
“Our experience in Mumbai pointed to a growing trend among Indian families to invest about one-third of their education spend on extra-curricular activities. This trend is driven by the growing emphasis on overall development of kids and more and more young Indians opting for passion based careers,” said Nathani.
