Digital entertainment startup Pocket Aces aims to become the modern media company of choice for the Indian millennial

Pocket Aces is a digital entertainment company that conceptualises, creates and distributes engaging digital-first content for the Indian millennial.

Started by Ashwin Suresh and Anirudh Pandita, Pocket Aces was formed with the goal of becoming the modern media company of choice for the millennial.

The founders believe that given the advent of social media and the rise of the smartphone, media creation and consumption patterns are evolving rapidly. To address this evolving content distribution landscape, the media company of the future needs to have a solid content creation ethos, strong technology DNA, a keen understanding of social sharing, and the ability to leverage technology to create content, analyse content, understand audiences, optimise distribution, and build community.

Pocket Aces currently runs three brands: FilterCopy, Dice Media, and Gobble.

FilterCopy is a shareable content platform. It offers snackable, mixed-media, millennial-focused, general interest content. The brand currently publishes three to four short videos/sketches and 60 to 80 articles every month. The brand has garnered over 80 million video views over the past nine months, has a 15 million weekly post reach via its social assets, and draws over 2 million people to its direct website every month.

Dice Media is a storytelling platform. This is an initiative to create memorable digital video properties for the Indian millennial. All content created is conceptualised, developed and produced end-to-end in-house.
Dice Media’s debut offering ‘Not Fit’ is a mockumentary-style web series. It will soon be the first digital-first series that will make its debut on Indian television.

Gobble is the content destination of choice for the real foodie. Launched in June this year, the brand aims to go beyond reviews and create food-focused mixed-media content tailored to delight food lovers. Currently, Gobble publishes 12 to 14 recipe-based food videos per month and 10 shareable articles per week. The brand plans to release four additional video properties in the coming year.

The company claims to have seen 250 per cent monthly growth across social media assets since launch in September 2015. It has over 100 million organic video views on original content and 15 million weekly post reach, over 2 million monthly page views and a monthly growth rate of 800 per cent on filtercopy.com. It boasts over 1,000 pieces of original content distributed across text, video, etc., created since inception.

Pocket Aces has a cool office space, where employees often work from wall-mounted green boxes, called ‘Work Pad’.
