Jakarta-based food discovery app Qraved today announced US$8 million Series B financing co-led by Richmond Global Ventures and Gobi Partners, followed by GWC, Convergence Ventures, 500 Startups, Toivo Annus, and M&Y Partners.

The company plans to use the funding to develop features in its core mobile and web app as well as ramp up marketing and promotional efforts.

The Series B round was announced as part of the Indonesian government delegation’s visit to Silicon Valley to meet tech giants and major VC firms. Officiated by Rudiantara, Indonesia’s Minister of Communications and Informatics, it is the second new partnership announced from the visit since Indosat announced partnership with Google for Project Loon.

“In the same way that chat and transport apps have transformed the way we communicate and travel every day, my vision is for Qraved to become the exclusive platform for Indonesians to connect with food,” said Steven Kim, CEO of Qraved.

“With this latest round of financing, I believe that we are well-positioned for success in this market,” he added.

Since late 2014, Qraved has rapidly gained traction with more than 1 million monthly users growth within six months.

The startup is also the exclusive F&B app partner for Jakarta Smart City project, where it works to help local culinary venues get discovered, as well as endorse clean and reliable street food.

“With the company’s remarkable progress over the past year and its solid management team, we believe that Qraved is poised for great things ahead,” said Thomas G. Tsao, Managing Partner at Gobi Partners.
