Indonesia digital telco Indosat Ooredoo has recently announced the launch of its mobile payment acceptance solution D-Pay. Indosat Ooredoo is collaborating with GoSwiff International, a Singapore-based financial services solutions provider, as technology and business partner, and with BNI as the acquiring bank for the launch.

D-Pay is a financial service that enables merchants to accept mobile payments and allows their customers to make payments using debit or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, JCB) and via eWallet, anywhere, anytime at enabled D-Pay merchants.

D-Pay intends to transform merchants’ mobile devices into multifunctional payment platforms, enabling merchants that do not have access to the relevant infrastructure or do not generate sufficient revenue to qualify for traditional Point-of-Sale (POS) services, to accept card payments by shifting to Mobile Point-of-Sale (mPOS).

This shift aims to empower merchants to increase their sales and number of customers, and ultimately grow their businesses. From the customer’s perspective, mPOS aims to make the digital payment experience more secure and convenient.

“In Indonesia, payment solutions are still in an early stage of growth, as most retailers still use cash for payments or charge customers for credit card use. In addition to eCommerce companies, D-Pay is the answer for Small and Medium retailers, who need alternative payment methods but their business size makes standard Banking solutions expensive,” said Prashant Gokarn, Chief of New Business and Innovation Officer Indosat Ooredoo, in a press statement.

Indosat Ooredoo is a member of Ooredoo Group. The company reported 69.8 million mobile customers as per first quarter 2016 and has recorded an increase of 52.5 per cent in data usage compared to last year.

Incorporated in 2010, GoSwiff is headquartered in Singapore and currently has operations in 25 countries around the world.
