#Asia Lalamove is expanding into food delivery, ties up with restaurants in Bangkok

The logistics delivery company recently raised US$10 million funding led by MindWorks Ventures

Hong Kong-based on-demand logistics company Lalamove is expanding into the restaurant and food delivery space, with a partnership with restaurants in Bangkok to deliver food items straight to customers’ doors.

Restaurants and food producers, who are invited to use Lalamove’s 24×7 dedicated courier service, will receive a stamp of approval with a ‘Lala Recommended’ graphic featured on Lalamove social media. Invitees are selected for their high-quality cuisine, outstanding reputation and popularity amongst customers.

Alongside this insignia, dishes and produce are promoted on Lalamove’s Facebook and Instagram pages, giving businesses a boost and demand for reliable delivery for customers.

In return, ‘Lala Recommended’ restaurants and food companies are promoting Lalamove services via their own social media too.

The food delivery scheme, which began recently, already offers a wide array of cuisine, from high-class dinners to nourishing comfort foods and lunches for health-conscious workers across the city.

In Thailand, Lalamove is competing with Deliveree, which claims that its service is 38 per cent cheaper than Lalamove.

Founded in 2013, Lalamove was originally created to improve last-mile deliveries. It currently has a large delivery service area across Asia with operations in 28 cities, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Taipei, Dongguan, Foshan, Shanghai, Chongqing, Zhongshan, Huizhou, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Beijing, Wuhan, Suzhou, Changsha, Tianjin, Xian, Ningbo, Qingdao, Fuzhou, Jinan, Xiamen, Zhengzhou and Shenyang with over 65,000 drivers.

The number of registered users regionally has grown to 660,000 and the app clocked more than half a million downloads in the past one year. In Thailand, the number of download is currently 100,000 with over thousands of registered drivers.

In May this year, Lalamove (formerly known as EasyVan) raised a US$10 million round of funding led by MindWorks Ventures.
